Art Work by Ruth Moser

My designs are predominantly based on nature combined with a pattern element and an awareness of natural seasons. Inspiration is also taken from a wide range of painters some well known – Howard Hodkgin, Craigie Aitchison and Robert Natkin, others less so – Judith Cain, Barbara Rae and Wolf Kahn. Therefore, the painterly mark for example the water colour splashes are very much part of my designs.

My paintings are in a variety of medium using colour, compostion and pattern exploring the mood and atmosphere of a specific place or memory.

In the last 2 years I have developed a range of textile products, wall hangings and free standing screens using organic fabrics. These fresh images combine my art work with digital print, sometimes including embroidery. It has been challenging and very exciting to transform my visual imagery through these new techniques and the versatility of the resulting designs enables them to be used for bespoke pieces. I view these in relation to their planned surrounding hence work can be commissioned to suit a specific environment.

Environmentally responsible values runs through the core of my design philosophy, I now create pieces that are not merely visual but also of practical use. To design and print my products with the protection of the environment, minimal waste, and using recycled products where possible is a major concern to me. For example, all my textile wall panels are mounted on recycled board.

During my 25 years of experience in the Art world I have exhibited continually around the world, my work is currently showing at the Brownston Gallery in Modbury, Devon.
